House under the Cherry Tree in a Small Village of Czech Canada
The Prague architectural office majo has built a small house for a photographer in the Czech Canada area. The house is located on a plot in a small village, which also includes an older cottage. The building is situated in close proximity to a mature fruit tree - the architects therefore named the project House under the Cherry Tree. The most striking element of the simple traditional volume of the house is the generous recessed terrace, which is protected by an overhanging roof.
This is a newly built small family house that will mainly serve for individual recreation. The house is located in the village of Senotín, next to a small recreational cottage that already stood on the property.
The house is oriented longitudinally - parallel to the contour of the slope. It is placed at the back of the plot approximately 25 meters from the municipal road. The new building respects the character and scale of the surrounding development. The footprint is only 44 m² (including the roof overhang and terrace, then 62 m²). It has a traditional village gable roof with a folded cement-fiber roofing.
The facade is clad in wood with a gray-white and natural coating. The simple volume of the village house is complemented by a recessed porch - an outdoor terrace under the roof overhang with a view of the garden and the village center.
