The new fire station is one of the results of the gradual implementation of the Architectural Concept that we developed for Úsilné in 2012 and are gradually fulfilling its individual parts. We started with a multipurpose playground, continued with the fire station, and are preparing to implement more buildings. Slowly but surely, the Architectural Concept is being realized.
The new fire station stands on the edge of the village next to the old fire station, which serves more as a base for athletes and other associations than as a proper fire station, for it cannot even fit a fire truck Avia, let alone a Tatra 815!
The fire station serves the Volunteer Fire Brigade of Úsilné. The firefighters are a large society with a rich community activity. Therefore, they need not only a garage and a workshop but especially a large community room where they hold meetings, set up inflatable castles for children, exhibitions, and in the meantime, park their old red and white Avia.
We designed a building that neither provokes any expectations with its scale and appearance, yet inside it hides generous spaces for a garage/hall, a smaller community room, a workshop, and facilities. A lapidary plan free of ballast. Rough concrete walls, unfilled joints, coarse seams, and a red floor.
