The apartment is divided into three logical functional zones – a central area with service functions, where there is a hallway, bathroom, toilet, and storage spaces in the form of an embedded wooden box; further, a daytime area with a living room, kitchen, and loggia, and a night area with a bedroom and children's room. The materials of the ceilings and floors in the apartment, their color and texture, follow and visually support this "natural" division of the apartment.
In the daytime area, "raw" surfaces are used – solid wood with a pronounced grain and an exposed concrete ceiling. In the service zone, a visually softer cast epoxy-cement floor and a concrete ceiling painted black are present. The smoothest are the rooms, where wool carpets and plastered white ceilings are used. The character of the floors and ceilings changes according to the zone, while the same wall material visually connects these zones. Where operations require it (kitchen, bathroom), the surface of the walls is finished with a matte white (and in the bathroom, gray) polyurethane coating; the doors are white, set into a concealed frame.
Into this prepared space, atypical furniture elements are inserted. Their shape is kept as simple as possible; the furniture design works with archetypal patterns, surfaces, and details that showcase craftsmanship. A wooden monolith reaching from floor to ceiling forms an imaginary protective barrier between the daytime and night areas of the apartment. The kitchen consists of a working "bench" made of laminated plywood, a suspended tall part with proportions of a traditional wardrobe or "almary," and an open shelf styled in the form of folk shelves for kitchenware.
Traditional carpentry details, such as corner mortise joints, appear on the drawers in the kitchen and bathroom. The main criterion for selecting mobile furniture and light fixtures was the craftsmanship quality of their processing, not the year of creation.
