The industrially styled apartment is located in a newly built development project. The architect handled the complex layout with an atypical solution for most of the interior elements – she designed a total of 44 custom pieces for the apartment, supplemented with a few iconic design items primarily from the 1950s.
The residential apartment covers an area of 85 m² and includes a fifty-meter terrace with a beautiful view. You can take the elevator directly to the apartment.
The architect received the commission relatively early, allowing her to cancel the delivery of all the standards for the apartment's furnishings offered by the seller. From the perspective of the overall interior concept, all standards were undesirable.
“I find it so incomprehensible why most new residential buildings in our country are still literally bursting with tastelessness.”We did not avoid minor construction modifications (electrical installations, adjustments to the sizes of building openings, plumbing and drainage installations, minor brickwork, etc.). The first step was the removal of plaster finishes on the ceilings of the living areas and on the walls of the kitchen. The exposed precast concrete units give the overall atmosphere of the apartment a certain rawness and underline the industrial character of the design.
Industrial cement screeds cover the floors throughout the space. The glass doors in steel frames were custom made according to the architect's design, while the solid doors with hidden frames are designed not to draw attention to themselves and almost disappear into the walls. The entire interior was refined by the architect down to the smallest accessories and decorations, from the design of pillows to the selection of greenery, bedding, or towels.
The owner of the apartment completely trusted the architect and she received almost absolute freedom in designing the interior. The only limitation was the budget.
“I don’t know why, but I find it easiest to design interiors for men, whether apartments or offices.”
