The shop Fransýr specializes in selling a wide range of primarily French cheeses, cured meats, and other products. The owner relocated the shop from a small space in Letná to the center of Prague. It is located on the ground floor of a functionalist palace, which today belongs to the company EGAP a.s. The building was constructed between 1927 and 1929 according to the design of architect František Troníček. Like other adjacent buildings, it is connected to an extensive network of arcades between the Lucerna Palace and the house U Nováků. The space lies in the courtyard tract, on the connection between these buildings, and thanks to the skylights, it benefits from daylight in an otherwise somewhat darker arcade.
The building layout is existing; in the white cleaned space with exposed structural elements, a cooled storage area and an office were added as part of the furniture installation. The drywall box above the workstation hides the air conditioning ducts. The space has a new floor made of cut sintered tiles, which, with a combination of 4 shades of gray, is meant to resemble a checkered kitchen tablecloth.
In terms of materials, the shop's furnishings aim to reflect both the care that the owner gives to the products offered and the customers, as well as the quality design of the arcade space. The surface of the furniture is made of oak veneer combined with panels painted in black chalkboard paint, and the countertop is made of acrylic stone. The space is complemented by hanging fixtures made of opal glass. The descriptions on the boards were created by typographer Petra Dočekalová.
