…wooden box, a small box for everything possible…

…Old and new, classic and modern. A wooden box connected to the original villa with a mosaic of terraces and used materials…
Housing for two generations, two different approaches to life. A beautiful project. A combination of an old villa, where the parents live, and a garden studio, a wooden box, conceptually designed quite differently, for a young family (the client is a director, a long-time friend).
It was special and beautiful to observe how the project rejuvenated and connected both generations. At the beginning lay a classic sketch, from which no one (except us) could tell how the whole project would actually function. However, from the very start, we were given enormous trust, which was very pleasant and also binding: everyone was looking forward to how the house would ultimately look, function, how the old would connect with the new…
We had to reconcile a number of requirements from both families, from a living space freely connected to the garden to a new chicken coop. In the end, we devised the concept of a long box, in which the individual spaces are functionally arranged in a row: garage, storage, study, living space open to the terrace and garden, bathroom, wc, bedroom, garden shed, etc. The new building occupies the entire frontage of the plot and, thanks to the terrace made of a mosaic of materials – wood, brick, stone, grass, bamboo – creates a connecting element with the original villa. A major challenge was the garden; we devised the concept ourselves and invited a garden architect for realization. The result? We did not disappoint the trust, after years we happily return to Boleslav and show our newly arriving clients how their new house could look…
