The challenge was to transform a cold and dark space into a welcoming place where visitors and employees would feel good. A neutral base that brightened the space and playfully minimalistic details that stand out. Please inquire.
The Zlín Tourist and Information Centre (TIC) is a key point for visitors and local residents seeking information about the city and its surroundings. The newly renovated spaces in the historic town hall building offer a modern and friendly environment.
For TouristsThe TIC provides comprehensive information on tourist attractions, accommodation, dining, and other services in Zlín and the surrounding area. Tourists can find maps, guides, and additional materials here to assist them in planning and realizing their stay. The TIC also offers the sale of souvenirs and memorabilia featuring the theme of Zlín.
For Local ResidentsThe TIC also serves local residents who want to be informed about cultural events, sports activities, and other events taking place in the city. The TIC provides information on city services, transportation, and other practical matters.
Renovation and Spatial SolutionsThe TIC spaces recently underwent a complete renovation, which breathed new life into them. The original unsatisfactory spaces were carefully reconstructed and modernized, with an emphasis on preserving the historical character of the building. The interior of the basement space was adapted into three parts. There is now a background for performers on the stage at Míru Square, as well as changing rooms and restrooms for vendors. At the back of the layout is the TIC's storage and facilities, while the most prominent part is the information center itself, which also serves as a souvenir shop. The challenge was to transform a cold and dark space into a welcoming place where visitors and employees would feel good. Attention was paid to technical support, air exchange, and thermal comfort. New facilities were also created for performers and vendors who perform at Míru Square. The TIC spaces are now barrier-free accessible from Bartošova Street, without restrictions on the town hall's opening hours.
Materials and EquipmentThe original basement space was cleared of technological installations from the ceiling, installations of air conditioning were made, and the central wall with arched passages was cleaned to brick and treated with white paint. The new durable floor is made of cut terrazzo tiles. The interior of the TIC includes a range of functional requirements that can change over time. Therefore, an atypical shelving system made of steel sheet with a yellow zinc surface finish was designed, combined with furniture made of birch plywood. The metal shelves allow for variable setups and demarcation of individual leaflets and brochures using magnets. Shelves are available in several types, according to expected use, including a bar for presenting posters and T-shirts. Protruding stands with LED strips from the non-visible side illuminate the contents of the shelves, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The interior is complemented by tables and stools from the Zlín company Sosone, color-coordinated with the interior.
