The Science Center is located in the former Pavilion D of the Brno Exhibition Center. The pavilion was completed in 1973 (arch. Zdeněk Denk) with the main entrance oriented towards the Exhibition Grounds as part of the urban structure of pavilions, gradually built along Křížkovského Street. The concept of the reconstruction and new use of the pavilion space is characterized by the relocation of the main entrance from the Exhibition Grounds to Křížkovského Street, into a new entrance object - an amoeba, which is also a characteristic element of the new use of the building. Together with the shelter at the bus stop, the entrance amoeba is visually contrasted with the original austere expression of the pavilion and serves as a reference point for the new entrance to the science center. Their organic form is made up of a steel structure with sheet metal templates on the inner skin and classic roofing sheets on the outside (the supplier of the amoeba is Taros Nova s.r.o.). The pavilion itself was reconstructed with respect to the original character of all structures (spatial trussed roof on 8 massive columns), including a completely new outer shell, installed on the original steel structure of the shell. The original block of the entrance hall from the side of the Exhibition Grounds was transformed into a part of the exhibition - Science Theatre. A distinct light marking of the center was proposed on the original mass of the freight elevator shaft for distant views, which has not yet been realized due to financial reasons.
