Villa in Roudnice nad Labem

Villa in Roudnice nad Labem
The villa is situated on a very sloping plot of a former recreational garden on the outskirts of the town. The slope of the terrain and the requirement to relate the living area of the ground floor to the level of the garden influenced the concept of the volumetric, spatial, and operational solution of the house. The mass of the building, embedded among existing fruit trees, is intentionally optically reduced and simplified by dividing it into two materially distinct volumes and clearly delineated, additively added carpentry elements, so that the building's placement appears natural on the slope. The ground floor of the house is on two levels; the upper corresponds to the entrance level, while the lower follows the garden level at the western facade line. The western living area of the house, including the parents' bedroom, is oriented towards open views of the town. Other bedrooms and facilities are located in the masonry eastern part of the house. Vertical communication is deliberately not separated from the living spaces.
The desired distinct connection between the interior and exterior is achieved through generously sized windows and wooden carpentry elements, creating direct contact with the garden. The carpentry structure represents both a functional and artistic component of the design of the vestibule, bay window, study, and veranda. On the southern side of the eastern part of the house, there is a walkable terrace connected to the glazed study in the attic. The connection between the dining room and the garden is facilitated by a veranda that protrudes over the slope of the garden at the western part of the façade.
The building is crafted from natural materials - stone, concrete, facing brick masonry, wood, and metal in natural colors. The residential zone features plastered lime and cement renders, with the surface impregnated with beeswax. The driveway and walkways are reinforced with crushed gravel. The fences are made of concrete interspersed with quarried stone on the facade.
