The foundation of our work is listening to the investor and their requirements, which we strive to fulfill completely. Additionally, we aim to develop. Enrich. Surprise. And push everything further, to a higher level.
Our goal was to find the basic characteristic, the unique DNA of the companies EVVA and GUARD and their products, companies that have been manufacturing keys, locks, and security locking systems for more than 100 years, and transfer it into the architecture of a new building in which both companies could operate for another 100 years.
The themes were:
Toothiness. Modular design. Insertion principle. Opening and closing. Economical and efficiency. Connection. Variability.

Architectural principles
Toothiness principle – was excellently applied in the triangular layout space designated for the administrative part. Individual offices are set back by one module, creating a key principle – interlocking teeth towards the street.

Connection principle – all rooms intended for permanent administrative work have floor-to-ceiling glass facades, reflecting the idea of working in nature, working in a garden. I wanted to draw greenery and plants as close as possible to the workplace – literally under the employees' feet, almost inside the office.

Opening and closing principle – all offices are also covered with exterior blinds, preventing overheating of the spaces during the summer. The meeting room and entrance hall are equipped with a system of sliding glass and acoustic partitions, allowing for modular enlargement or reduction of the meeting room's footprint.

Modularity principle – the administrative part is based on a module of 1.2 * 1.2 m, while the production hall is built on a module of 6*6 m.

Insertion principle – a yellow volume has been inserted into the administrative part, hiding all service and utility rooms – changing rooms, sanitary facilities, machine rooms. Wooden boxes of cupboards are inserted between the corridor and offices, defining spaces for the offices.

Economy and efficiency – the floor plan is optimized for the needs of minimal service space for production. The land within the village is maximally utilized, with a defined reserve for the second phase.

Variability – the production hall is designed to allow any future layout changes and enables connection with another planned phase. The administrative building is ready for the construction of an additional floor.

We realized the construction as the general contractor, and I personally alternated with a colleague regularly not only in the positions of preparer, site manager, but also as a bricklayer or, for example, an operator of a road vibrating roller during the compaction of the hall floor. Thanks to our constant presence on site, we managed to realize several ideas that were not originally in the plan and arose from the momentary situation, such as key impressions in the concrete screwed into the formwork, an interior showcase with originals of artifacts from the Stone and Bronze Ages found during construction (we would like to thank Mgr. Přichystal from ÚAPP Brno for the long-term loan of the originals) or pictograms of the construction's information system, which were graphically designed by my six-year-old daughter Adélka.
