Garden center as a green gallery. The task was to design a new commercial space for the sale of products from the company Plantex, which focuses on the cultivation of fruits and trees. With a new vision for development, there was an intention to create a comprehensive solution that would consider the growing needs of the company during the phased construction. Starting from sales areas for greenery and hard goods, through a café, restaurant, to office spaces.
The location in the small village of Veselé near Piešťany and the character of the surrounding buildings significantly influenced the overall concept of the solution. The hall spaces have gable roofs inspired by typical features of rural architecture. The individual segments of the building respect the planned phased construction and help to divide the large building volume. Currently, 2 out of 4 phases have been realized.
A characteristic feature is the gable walls, which plastically shape the main facade from the access road. Fully glazed gable facades are complemented by an overhanging wooden cladding that serves as shading. The facade changes around the perimeter from glazed gables to solid side walls in the heated part and further to fully polycarbonate walls in the unheated part. This division of the building into two temperature zones stems from the nature of the products sold.
The technical solution of the load-bearing structures is acknowledged in the interior. Steel profiles and wall panels complement the green products of the garden center and wooden cladding elements. The elevated space of the gable roofs distributes light through opening polycarbonate skylights, while the unheated part of the building with a full polycarbonate cladding functions as a greenhouse.
