Garden Classroom Tišnov

School yard where high school, elementary school, and leisure center meet. All-day activity for children of all ages. In the yard, in the view of the church, a new gazebo has been built. A garden classroom with an elliptical floor plan and a green roof. The elliptical floor plan opens the building equally to all sides, like a pebble in the grass between the houses. Thanks to modular furniture, it allows for both group and individual teaching styles. Electricity and water are supplied to the gazebo.
The construction combines wooden elements and metal. The steel frame stiffens the gazebo, and no additional bracing elements are needed. Carpenter's joints on LVL profiles were milled on a CNC machine based on an accurate 3D computer model. This made it possible to customize all elements and their joints even before the actual construction. Precise milling simplified what would otherwise be a relatively complex structure; the assembly of the structure on site was completed in one afternoon. The gazebo is finished with a light gray oil-wax coating.
The building is based on a continuous elliptical foundation reinforced with a steel mesh. Ceiling panels made of plywood are dimensioned for the applied layers of the green roof. The modular foldable furniture was made from durable construction plywood combined with solid wood edging.
