Through the ArchiCzech project, we present the Czech Republic and Prague as a country where sustainable architecture has become commonplace. It has become an important tool for planning and creating quality urbanism, public spaces, affordable housing, improving transport infrastructure, and caring for the historical footprint of industrial character. In addition to the presentation, we would like to support relationships between Czech and Slovak experts and their discussion on the development of urban settlements in the post-industrial era, utilizing architecture and urbanism as a means of societal advancement in the 21st century. We are pleased that the Office of the Chief Architect of the City of Košice, K13 (Košice Cultural Centre), and the Faculty of Arts TUKE have shown interest in exchanging professional views and have allowed the presentation of contemporary Czech and Prague architecture in the eastern Slovak metropolis of Košice.

The international ArchiCzech project is held under the patronage of the Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Bratislava, His Excellency Mr. Rudolf Jindrák, and is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the Capital City of Prague, the City of Košice, the Czech Architecture Foundation, and Zumtobel Lighting. It builds on the long-term strategy of the organizer, the ARCHITECTURA association, in searching for the advantages of utilizing contemporary architecture as a significant factor in preserving the quality of exposed urban landscapes or public spaces in collaboration with international partners.
Dan Merta, Architectura Association

I am very glad that, thanks to the generous support of our partners, we can organize ArchiCzech here in Košice. The festival is a unique opportunity for the city of Košice, the institution UHA, and the local professional public to interactively engage in the international debate on contemporary urban planning. We are thus continuing the long-standing tradition of a fruitful relationship between the cities of Košice and Prague in the field of modern architecture and urbanism. I firmly believe that the exhibitions and program themes of the accompanying program of the festival will attract both professional and interested audiences and will inspire current challenges in the field of contemporary building culture in our city. The ArchiCzech festival will also become the opening event of UHA60 – Sixty Years of Activity of the Office of the Chief Architect of the City of Košice – a milestone anniversary that UHA will also remind the citizens of Košice of through various activities during the upcoming year 2025.
Petr Kropp, Chief Architect of the City of Košice
