Roots of Japanese Modern Architecture

„I have worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Japan for over 30 years. Throughout my career in the ministry, I was involved with all sorts of architectural works of the Japanese Embassies all over the world. Before joining Foreign Affairs in 1981, I studied architectural conservation in York. The most exciting projects I had the opportunity to work on were Embassy’s work in London, Riyadh, and Moscow. During my career, I have visited more than sixty countries for Embassy work. After retiring in 2012 I finished my Ph.D. at Newcastle University specializing in “Ecology of land use“.
My lecture is about modern Japanese architecture and what are its roots and founders.“

K. Makino

The lecture of Keiji Makino will be in English. The lecture is free and is open to the public.

Roots of Japanese Modern Architecture

„I have worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Japan for over 30 years. Throughout my career at the ministry, I dealt with all kinds of architectural work at Japanese embassies around the world. Before I started working for the ministry, I studied architectural conservation in York in 1981. Among the most interesting projects I ever worked on were the embassy buildings in London, Riyadh, and Moscow. Throughout my rich career, I have visited more than sixty countries. In 2012, after retiring, I completed my Ph.D. at Newcastle University, focusing on Ecology of land use.
My lecture will concern modern Japanese architecture, its roots, and founders.“
