The Czech Chamber of Architects announced the 5th year of the Czech Architecture Award. The competition is open to architectural realizations built in the territory of the Czech Republic over the past five years. Architects can submit their works until April 1, 2020. Traditionally, the credit of the Czech Architecture Award is supported by a prestigious seven-member international jury. The significance of the Czech Architecture Award lies, among other things, in year-round and regional promotion of architecture. Submissions will again take place in the form of an online form and are not associated with any costs for the competing architects. The results will be announced at a festive gala event, which will take place in November 2020. The general partner of the exhibition is, as in previous years, the company CENTRAL GROUP.

The results will be decided by an international expert jury, which will select up to 50 nominated works by the end of May 2020. From this number, the jury will subsequently choose approximately 5 to 10 works that will be awarded the honorary title Finalist CCA, and from them, the jury will select the main prize winner. An award for exceptional achievement will also be granted, with the selection made by the Academy and the CCA Board, as well as partner awards, whose laureates are proposed by the award partners.

International Expert Jury

The work of Czech architects will traditionally be evaluated by seven qualified foreign experts. These are landscape architect, urban planner, and academic Henri Bava (France), architect Alessandra Cianchetta (United Kingdom), architect Jeanne Dekkers (Netherlands), architect and theorist Gillian Horn (United Kingdom), architect Csaba Nagy (Hungary), architect Štefan Polakovič (Slovakia), and architect Jeroen van Schooten (Netherlands).

Who can apply for the Czech Architecture Award?

In the competition exhibition, which intentionally does not have any established categories, authors can submit their works realized in the territory of the Czech Republic over the past five years in 2020. This refers to completed buildings built from January 2015 to December 2019. Works that were shortlisted in the previous two years are excluded from the competition. Architects can submit their realizations using a simple online form. For 2020, the Czech Chamber of Architects is planning regional events, as in previous years, connected both with the presentation of the 2019 finalists and with future nominated works for 2020.

Academy of the Czech Architecture Award

In addition to the works submitted by the authors themselves, the Academy of the Czech Architecture Award can also initiate the nomination of remarkable buildings. It is also responsible for the nominations for the exceptional achievement in the field of architecture.
