Jablonec nad Nisou - The Glass and Costume Jewelry Museum in Jablonec nad Nisou has announced a art competition for a new design of the facade of the so-called Pelant staircase. This is a concrete extension from 1964, which the museum has adjacent to its main building. The museum aims to unveil the new facade next May to celebrate the 120th anniversary of its founding. In a press release today, the museum director Milada Valečková informed about it.

"We welcome designs that will refer to both the historical and current function of the building, which has been a home to glass and costume jewelry since its opening. Originally as an export house, and since 1949 as a museum," said Valečková.

The competition is open to artistic works from artists over 18 years old, and they can submit their ideas until January 5 of next year. The museum expects that the designs will take into account the surroundings of the concrete extension, namely the Art Nouveau museum building, its new glass extension from 2020, and the adjacent museum park. Additionally, the estimated costs should not exceed a quarter of a million crowns.
