Náchod – The city of Náchod could eventually build a multi-purpose sports hall in the grounds of the primary school in the Plhov district near the Jirásek summer swimming pool. Previously, the city hall considered building the hall in two other locations, but both options fell through. This was stated by the city hall spokesperson Nina Adlof. In the past, the city estimated that the hall could cost 120 million crowns. It would be the largest investment for the twenty-thousand-strong city in the coming years.

Initially, the city hall planned to build the hall in the Bílá růže area in the city center. However, the city was unable to acquire the necessary land. The second option to build the hall on the site of the TJ Náchod tin sports hall by the Metuje River also failed because TJ Náchod decided not to sell the hall to the city.

Apart from Náchod's sports clubs, the hall in Plhov would also be used by the Plhov primary school, which focuses on extended sports education. According to the city hall, the design of the hall should emerge from an architectural competition. The city will want to obtain a grant for its construction. In this year's budget, the city had ten million for the project documentation of the hall. The money will be transferred to next year.

The city plans for the hall to have a playing area of 50 × 30 meters and a capacity for more than 1,000 spectators. "The hall will also include facilities and spaces for smaller sports such as judo, karate, table tennis, fitness, and others," stated Deputy Mayor Jan Čtvrtečka. The construction will also include a parking lot.
