Prague - The restaurant with a viewing tower in Malešický Park will be designed for Prague 10 by the Swiss studio Amont. This was informed by the spokesperson of the city district, Ján Bruno Tropp, in a press release. The estimated costs for the construction, which is to replace buildings currently partly used as maintenance facilities for the park, are according to the competition documents 60 million crowns.
According to the mayor of the city district, Martin Valovič (ODS), the construction is "the last missing piece of the proposal," according to which the municipal office previously revitalized the park covering approximately nine hectares south of Malešická Street. "This is not a new initiative, but rather the completion of unfinished work. The author of the transformation of Malešický Park was moreover a member of the expert architectural commission," the mayor stated.
"We will now discuss the next steps and the signing of a contract for the development of project documentation," Valovič added. According to information from the municipality, 21 proposals entered the competition, for which the city district plans an exhibition.
The planned restaurant is to have, according to the competition brief, a capacity for 50 people inside and 90 on the patio, and an area for cultural events with a stage is to be created near the establishment. The expected height of the observation tower is about 30 meters so as to ensure views of the surroundings, and on clear days towards Kokořínsko, Bezděz, Brdy, and Dobříš, the Jizera Mountains, and the Krkonošsko.
Malešický Park was established according to the website of the city district in the 1960s in connection with the construction of the surrounding housing estate and is the largest park area in Prague 10. It is located at an altitude of 265 meters. The revitalization of the park using European funds was completed in 2013.
