Revitalization of the Cultural House in Vodňany - competition results

In the architectural competition "Vodňany - Renewal of the Cultural House", 35 authors submitted their competition entries. The jury, chaired by assoc. prof. Ing.arch. Petr Kovář, praised the relatively high standard of the entire competition and, in this context, also appreciated the approach of the local government of the town of Vodňany to the gradual renewal of neglected places and houses located in the town.
The first place in the public architectural competition for the design of the renovation of the cultural house in Vodňany was won by a team of architects consisting of Ing. Jaroslav Lesenský, Ing.arch. Pavel Lesenský, and Ing. Petr Fogl. The jury praised the well-developed concept of a universal hall that can be used for both theatrical performances and movie screenings. They consider the ability to open the stage space to the park as an added value, creating a very attractive area. The jury stated that "the design is civil, compact, and economical. The architecture of the building is based on clean, almost minimalist volumes punctuated by glazed walls. The expression of the building is contemporary, elegant, and well represents the cultural and social function of the building."
The second place was awarded to Platform Architects Ing. David Průša, Ing.arch. Alena Mazalová in collaboration with Ing.arch. Jan Zeman. The third place was taken by a team consisting of Ing.arch. Jan Kadlas, Ing.arch. David Pavlišta, and Ing.arch. Jiří Žid.
