Valašské Meziříčí - The representatives of Valašské Meziříčí in the Vsetín district approved the conditions for the architectural competition for the apartment building J. K. Tyla. The facility will expand the nursing home for seniors and will include at least 32 mainly small-sized apartments. ČTK was informed today by the city hall spokesperson Jakub Mikuš.

The city owns a complex of buildings on J. K. Tyla Street with a capacity of 94 apartments ranging from 1+0 to 2+1. It serves the housing needs of seniors and people with disabilities. However, the number of applications exceeds the capacity.

"Therefore, we have decided to build another rental apartment building for seniors on the vacant land that directly adjoins the existing nursing home. Since we are talking about estimated costs of approximately 250 million crowns, we want to obtain a comprehensive proposal for this area that also takes into account the existing character of the location. This is also the reason why we announced the architectural competition. In addition to the building itself with at least 32 new apartments, we expect architects to focus on transportation solutions, including the establishment of new public transport stops," said Mayor Robert Stržínek (ANO).

The apartments will be sized 1+kk, 2+kk, and 2+1. "At the same time, they must meet the requirements for low- or barrier-free housing. After all, they will primarily serve the needs of older tenants with mobility limitations. We also place great emphasis on the solution of the outdoor green garden, which will be accessible not only to the residents of the new building, but also to the existing residents," Stržínek added.

Architects can submit their proposals until September 20. "We believe that, just like in the case of the recently concluded architectural competition for the design of a new gymnasium with sports hall parameters in the area of the Primary School Křižná, we will receive a whole range of quality proposals from renowned architects and studios," said Deputy Mayor Petr Nachtmann (ODS).

The city plans to establish a complete range of services for seniors on J. K. Tyla Street in the future. "Today, some doctors already have offices in the nursing home, and we also provide the operation of our social department's consultancy here, for example. Gradually, we would like to expand the range of these services. Therefore, the new apartment building should definitely include a common room and other facilities," Nachtmann stated.
