A unique exhibition Architecture of Repair, which is on display at the Gallery of František Drtikol in Příbram until August 30, will be enhanced by a rich accompanying program in June. Visitors of all generations who want to experience art differently – actively, collectively, and in context – are invited to flea markets, theater performances, a concert of contemporary classical music, and guided tours.

On Wednesday, June 3, an architectural symposium focused on the use of industrial buildings for cultural purposes will take place in the gallery. The program will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will open a broader discussion on how to sensitively adapt existing architecture for contemporary needs. This will be followed at 5:00 p.m. by a theater performance by visual artist and performer Petr Nikl and Jan Slovák. The theatrical project thematically responds to the exhibition Architecture of Repair – it works with motifs of transformation, renewal, and sensitive intervention in the existing. The evening will culminate in a concert by Belgian pianist Daan Vandewalle, which will start at 7:00 p.m. The artist will present a repertoire of contemporary classical music to the Příbram audience, which, in the context of the exhibition and symposium, opens another layer of spatial perception – this time through sound. His interpretation offers an intense musical experience, working with subtlety, structure, and silence.

On Saturday, June 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the gallery's atrium and its surroundings will come to life with flea markets. However, it is not just about the classic sale of items – the purpose of this event is to open the theme of “repair” in a broader cultural and social context. “Flea markets symbolically build on the idea of reuse, recycling, and care for objects that already have their history. In a time of overproduction and fast consumption, they represent an alternative approach that restores value to what would otherwise end up forgotten. At the same time, they create space for meeting – neighborly, community, natural. For one day, the gallery will transform into a vibrant place of sharing, where the stories of things and people meet,” explains Magda Danel, director of the Gallery of František Drtikol in Příbram (GFDP). The event will also include an architectural modeling workshop for children, teenagers, and adults. The flea markets are organized by the gallery in collaboration with the Technical Services and their Re-use Center in Příbram and other partners.

Guided tours of the exhibition Architecture of Repair are scheduled for June 3 with curator Pavla Melková and June 6 with curator Kateřina Špičáková.

“The June program will offer not only a cultural experience but also an opportunity to reflect on what it means to 'repair' – things, spaces, and relationships. It is also part of the long-term dramaturgical direction of GFDP, which connects art with current themes of today’s society. The exhibition Architecture of Repair and its accompanying events raise questions of sustainability, care, and responsibility towards the environment in which we live,” adds Magda Danel.

The group exhibition Architecture of Repair at the Gallery of František Drtikol in Příbram (Tyršova 106) from March 25 to August 30 presents 7 contemporary architectural studios (Muck Petzet Architekten, Büros für Konstruktivismus, re:architekti, YYYY, MCA atelier, AP atelier, and ORA), in whose work the approach of architecture of repair appears. In one of their realized projects, visitors will see how it can be specifically fulfilled. The exhibition includes works by artists Krištof Kintera and Matouš Lipus.
