Buček–Horatschke: 33–800–169 – retrospective exhibition

We invite you to a lecture by Ing. arch. Petr Janda, who runs his own studio petrjanda/brainwork. The lecture will take place on Friday, November 25, 2022, from 10:00 at the Retrospective Exhibition in the Regional Gallery of Liberec, mapping the history and present of the best student projects from the Buček – Horatschke studio, which were created during 33 semesters between 2004-2021 at the Faculty of Art and Architecture in Liberec. A publication will be released in connection with the exhibition at the Regional Gallery of Liberec. The curator of the exhibition and the student works in the publication is Adam Gebrian, a respected architecture theorist and former student of the Liberec school. The Buček – Horatschke studio has nurtured several remarkable personalities during its time at the Faculty of Art and Architecture, who are now active in the public space. Graduates Pavel Šťastný, Jitka Pucandlová, Jiří Chmelík, Ivo Pavlík, Jiří Lukáš, Andreas Dzikos, Markéta Bromová, Jan Vondrák, and others represent the emerging generation of young architects; the exhibition and publication also include their development, while being the first independent presentation of the studio. The individual student works will be presented in digital form.
The exhibition represents 33 semesters, 33 projects. The installation is a reflection, a temporal Manhattan that has grown, developed, and continues to grow. We walk around and depart, we enter and exit. We find and pass by. The spatial installation is meant to capture the moment of interweaving and overlapping, of us and the years gone by. When you look up, you don’t see the upper edges; when you look down, you see a solid foundation.
