Brno - The city museum at Špilberk will exhibit historical topographical views of Brno starting from Thursday. The museum selected from its collection of views, which are artistic topographical representations of the city. They capture the transformations of Brno over the centuries. The exhibition "Nostalgic Brno" also features modern interactive elements and comparative photographs. It begins on Thursday and will last until March 30 of next year, said museum spokesperson Barbora Kachlířová.

One of the main attractions is the work of Brno painter Franz Richter from the first half of the 19th century, who documented not only the architecture of the time but also significant events in the city's history, such as the arrival of the first train from Vienna to Brno in 1839.

"Richter's work is fascinating in how detail-oriented and with a distinctive sense it captures the changing face of the city," said curator Jindřich Chatrný. The oldest known depiction of the city from 1593 by Jan Willenberg will also be on display.

"The exhibition connects the past with the present and offers not only a historical insight but also a modern, visually attractive presentation. We believe that this combination will provide a new experience in exploring the city," stated museum director Zbyněk Šolc in a press release.

Additionally, there is photographic documentation comparing historical views with the current state of selected locations. The views are accompanied by models of the city, period fashion, and other artifacts evoking life in Brno in the past.

The collection of views at the Brno museum has been formed since the early 20th century and today includes a thousand graphics, drawings, and paintings not only featuring motifs of Brno but also other world cities.
