Joint exhibition of student competitions FUA TUL, FA ČVUT, FA VUT
We're starting with a retrospective!
Students who were awarded for their projects in independent competitions are returning to their topics and commenting on them again: 9+9+9 from each school.
We invite you to the last event of 2012 in the Cockpit (transformer station Malostranská, Pod Bruskou 2, Prague 1). This is the space of a former transformer station in the very center of Prague. The unique atmosphere of the industrial building provides stimuli for revitalization with its starkness and dim ambiance.
At three Czech schools of architecture, in Prague, Brno, and Liberec, internal competitive exhibitions of school projects take place at the end of each semester, aimed at evaluating student work and providing an independent perspective on the level of individual projects and school studios. These competitions showcase the best that emerges from these schools. However, the results often remain hidden from the public, and we want to change that.
The joint exhibition will allow every visitor to peek behind the scenes of Czech faculties of architecture and view a retrospective showcase of winning and nominated projects. The Cockpit, as the space is nicknamed, will host 27 projects, and the schools will also present their specifics of student life. While in the academic context of schools, it is customary to present the results of work only in the form of posters, brochures, and models, for this exhibition we would like to present architecture in a more expressive form. The freedom granted to individual exhibitors is indeed bound by the dimension of the individual stalls – their construction. However, it offers them the opportunity to express the idea of their project and reinterpret it in a new artistic three-dimensional way. To impress the viewer and their senses. To completely inhabit this space with their concept.
This exhibition is also organized for the general public and future architecture students, who will get a unique insight into contemporary architectural education.
The aim of the project is collaboration and discussion among students from three architecture schools in the Czech Republic. A joint gathering at one exhibition will enhance communication among students, between different faculties, and create moments of mutual comparison and inspiration.
The exhibition is created with the support of NČA.
The vernissage will take place on Monday, November 19, 2012, at 8 PM.
It will be open from November 20 to 28, from 12 PM to 8 PM.
The closing event will conclude the exhibition on Wednesday, November 28, at 8 PM.
