Ostrava - The Gallery of Fine Arts in Ostrava (GVUO) is hosting the architecture and design festival Archikultura 2014. During this event, the successful Israeli architect Zvi Hecker is exhibiting. He has arrived in the regional city to guide interested visitors through his sketches. In addition to him, the festival will also feature three other exhibitions. This was stated today by the gallery spokesperson Kateřina Naarová. From today, interested parties can view an exhibition of Danish architecture, renowned for its minimalism and sustainable functionality. A dedicated exhibition presents the designs of the Catalan studio BAND (Barcelona Architecture 'N' Design). "The extraordinary exhibition World Architects on Architecture will provide access to a unique collection of records and transcriptions of reflections by world-renowned architects on architecture along with their photographs," added Naarová. According to her, the main star is the Israeli architect Hecker, who was born in Poland. He currently lives and works in Berlin. This is his first exhibition in the Czech Republic. "I am glad that the Architecture Cabinet manages to present both the work of global stars and young hopes of architecture," said the exhibition curator Tadeáš Goryczka. He added that the Ostrava audience has a unique opportunity to personally meet such an architectural icon as Hecker. "Neither professionals nor students, nor interested members of the public should miss it. It won't be repeated," he stated. The exhibitions will last until April 27. Interested parties can find information on the gallery's website www.gvuo.cz.
