The Antiquarian and Club Fiducia has prepared a new series of exhibitions for you this year in collaboration with architectural historian Martin Strakoš titled "Forgotten Ostrava".

The first exhibition in the entrance area of the antiquarian will be opened on February 8 at 5:00 PM and will focus on Ostrava's interiors. Eight panels will showcase (often photographed for the first time) significant interiors from Ostrava, such as the interiors of the House of Art, the House of Culture of the City of Ostrava, the former city savings bank, the main railway station in Přívoz, and others. The photographs for the exhibition were taken by photographer Roman Polášek, and the exhibition text was prepared by Martin Strakoš. Throughout the month until March 19, there will be a competition related to the exhibition, where you will be tasked with guessing the location of a selected interior. You will be able to drop your answers into a special box at Fiducia, and at the end of the exhibition, a drawing will take place, rewarding three of you who answer correctly with material gifts (books, catalogs, and the first prize will be the Guide to the Architecture of Ostrava).

The exhibition will be opened on Monday, February 8, 2010, at 5:00 PM by architectural historian Martin Strakoš and will run until March 19, 2010.

Text for the exhibition Ostrava Interiors (author Martin Strakoš):
Each of us recalls a significant interior, often under the impression of a film or some significant historical monument. Ostrava's interiors remain somewhat on the fringes of attention. Yet among them, we can find artistically and craftily interesting spaces that are characteristic of certain stylistic periods.
Their small reminder will also be the February exhibition in the entrance hall of the Antiquarian and Club Fiducia. It will showcase originally diverse buildings. The most notable is a group of interiors from the 20th century. The New Town Hall, the House of Art, the former city savings bank, the Church of St. Joseph Don Bosco, the House of Culture of the City of Ostrava, the Vítkovice, main, or Svinov railway stations - these are examples of quality modern architectural creation and also tips for visiting the still preserved Ostrava interiors that we should pay attention to.
The exhibition was ideologically and textually prepared for you by architectural historian Martin Strakoš. The interiors will be presented through the photographs of Roman Polášek, taken during the preparation of the publication Guide to the Architecture of Ostrava. (The guide was published by the National Heritage Institute, and its launch will take place on March 25 at 5:00 PM at the Michal Mine in Ostrava-Michálkovice.)

The project was supported by: The Statutory City of Ostrava, The National Heritage Institute, The Archive of the City of Ostrava, The Ministry of Culture, The OKD Foundation, The Czech Architecture Foundation, Concept.
