In Switzerland, the tallest wooden skyscraper in the world will be built, reaching a height of 100 meters

Bern – In the Swiss city of Winterthur near Zurich, the world's tallest wooden skyscraper will be built in the coming years. The wooden structure, standing 100 meters tall, will be part of a residential complex designed by architects from the Danish firm Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects (SHL). This was reported by the CNN website.

According to the project’s authors, the high-rise building made of glued laminated timber will be a milestone in the field of wooden construction. "The innovative construction system will demonstrate that wood is a natural replacement for concrete," stated Kristian Ahlmark from SHL. "We have always tried to use wood extensively, not only because of its aesthetic qualities but also due to the technological possibilities it opens up," he added.

The residential complex is named Rocket&Tigerli after the locomotives that were previously manufactured at the construction site. In addition to apartments, it will include commercial spaces and a hotel.

The title of the world's tallest wooden building is currently held by a skyscraper in the small Norwegian town of Brumunddal, which stands 85 meters tall. Just one meter lower are the high-rise buildings called HoHo in the new Vienna residential district of Aspern Seestadt.
