Architects on the Same Boat – World Architecture Day

On the first Monday of October each year, World Architecture Day is celebrated, proclaimed by the International Union of Architects (UIA). This year, in honor of the occasion, we are organizing a themed evening in Prague titled Architects in the Same Boat. This is a pilot event for regular informal gatherings of all representatives of the profession, derived from the program of a new platform for greater openness of the Czech Chamber of Architects and better promotion of the field. The evening is dedicated to all architects, students, and lovers of architecture as well as the architects themselves – and it brings together several interesting (and exceptional) events:

Architectural Institute in Prague (ARCHIP), a new international school of architecture located in the Veletržní Palace, will celebrate the beginning of its first academic year with its foreign and domestic students.

Architectural Magazine ERA21 will present its new issue with the participation of the editor-in-chief Osamu Okamura. The theme is Beginnings in Architecture, featuring twenty young Czech and Slovak studios, among others.

Until October 14, an exhibition of projects submitted for the 12th Annual Diploma Project Exhibition, a traditional competition for graduates of domestic architectural schools organized by the Czech Chamber of Architects, will be installed on the boat.

The program will include a concert performance by the cult Brno band Budoár staré dámy.

The event will take place on Monday, October 3, 2011, starting at 5 PM on the gallery boat (A)Void Floating at Rašínovo nábřeží in the Výton area of Prague 2 (between the railway bridge and the steamer Tyrš). The boat is docked and will not sail; you can come and leave at any time. The individual program components will take place directly on the boat and the adjacent embankment, outdoors – dress warmly.
