Prague - As part of Architecture Day organized by o.s. Kruh as the inaugural edition of the annual architecture festival, today residents of more than thirty cities will be offered guided tours, cycling trips, professional lectures, and a number of other events aimed at introducing Czechs to the beauties of domestic architecture. Contemporary Czech architects will take on the role of guides, introducing interested parties to the significance and history of architectural gems, as well as buildings that mar the public space.
The event is held in celebration of World Architecture Day, which this year falls on Monday, October 3rd. For both laypeople and professionals, the organizers have prepared, for example, a guided cycling tour of construction sites in Brno, a walk in Wellington boots around Botič, and a special program in the Prague district of Vinohrady featuring musical performances and an architectural workshop for children.
Czech architects and architectural theorists, such as Pavel Nasadil and Ondřej Císler, have promised to collaborate on the project. Some of them will be guiding in the city where they were born.
The project involves the Czech metropolis, Brno, and Olomouc, as well as the eight-thousand-strong Zbraslav. The walks and excursions are completely free. More information can be found at www.denarchitektury.cz.
