This weekend, a twelve-meter wooden structure will be presented to the public on the shore of Kyjský pond in Prague, built over the past two weeks as part of a workshop for students from TUL, VUT, and ČVUT, led by Martin Rajniš and his Huti architektury.
The artifact, constructed from invasive tree species, illustrates the form and structural details of the observation tower. The festive completion of the artifact, as the creators themselves refer to the wooden structure, will take place this weekend and will be accompanied by a program for the public.
On Saturday, June 21, the event will be held on the shore of Kyjský pond (near Broumarská street) under the slogan “CONSTRUCTION APPROVED” – all day long, free creative workshops for the public are prepared with the presence and assistance of architects and students from the three faculties who built the artifact.
The program on Sunday, June 22, will be even more colorful. At 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, and 16:00, approximately half-hour workshops for the public will focus on the structural and construction properties of wood and their use, for example, in building towers / observation towers. At the same time, a creative afternoon for children will be held – Draw an observation tower for Prague, assisted by instructors from the local community center Plechárna.
The announcement of the results of the two-day competition will then conclude at 18:00 with the “approval” of the object in the presence of the mayor of Prague 14, Radek Vondra, and architect Martin Rajniš and his team. His lecture will be followed by a concert by bands, a barbecue, a tour of the artifact, and discussions with interested attendees.
