At the end of February, a renovated bistro opened at the New Town Hall in Mariánské Square in Prague. The renovation was carried out by edit! architects, who designed it as a bright space open to everyone. The interior respects the context of the significant historical building and is furnished with furniture from Czech manufacturers. The modifications lasted 6 months, and the establishment continues to operate under the name Bistro at the New Town Hall, employing people with disabilities.
"The interior of the new bistro at the Prague City Hall is designed as a bright, clean, and open space that respects the context of the significant historical building. The main materials used are of a natural character, emphasizing the use of traditional technologies and construction methods. The work with delicate ornamentation, which subtly outlines the zones for service and seating, refers to craft skills and the complex approach to the interiors of the entire building," explains architect Vítězslav Danda from the edit! studio.
The architects designed the renovation of the publicly accessible area, namely the service and seating areas. They use ceramic mosaics in the interior that accentuate the individual niches for seating and service. The outlining also extends to the floor made of light terrazzo. The furnishings consist of chairs from the Czech manufacturer TON, tables made of white marble with cast iron bases, and benches and a counter at the front of the bistro that are carpentry products made of natural oak.
The Bistro at the New Town Hall is open from Monday to Friday not only for the employees of the City Hall of Prague but also for the public. It will employ people with disabilities, whom it aims to naturally integrate into social life, from which they are unfortunately often excluded.
