Brno - One of the contracts for the renovation of the Brno building Městský dvůr, which was sold last year by the city council to the Spanish company Comsa, was awarded to the former company of Deputy Radomír Jonáš (ODS). Jonáš sold the company DaRa - JoWi last year, and according to the commercial register, his son, girlfriend, and her son still appear in it. This is reported by today's South Moravian edition of Mladá fronta Dnes (MfD). According to the newspaper, Jonáš denies any wrongdoing, while another deputy, Miroslav Hošek (ODS), described the situation as delicate.

According to Jonáš, no one from his close circle is involved in DaRa - JoWi anymore, even though they are listed in the commercial register. However, the construction company was bought by JOK, in which Jonáš previously had a share and where his brother now serves as vice-chairman of the board. "I don't own anything there, and my brother is a competent and independent person. Just because I am in the city leadership, a company where he is production director won’t refuse a contract," Jonáš told the newspaper.
The company has a monthly turnover of 120,000 crowns for the reconstruction of Městský dvůr, the newspaper states. According to political scientist Miroslav Mareš, such a situation could lead to suspicions of a conflict of interest and a violation of political culture. Adriana Krnáčová from Transparency International also labeled the behavior as unethical.
