Prague – The Czech Railways (ČD) group has extended the deadline for submitting bids in the competitive dialogue for a new headquarters in Prague by one more week, to Wednesday, September 4. ČTK was informed by ČD spokesperson Filip Medelský. Originally, the railways were to accept bids until June, but the deadline was then extended to August 28. The carrier is looking for an administrative complex for 1,400 employees; interested parties can offer existing complexes or the construction of a new building on ČD's plots or those of other entities.
"The final number of bids and their content will be known only after the qualification phase of the competitive dialogue has elapsed,” Medelský said. ČD will send the three best bids into the final selection. According to the original plan, the railways were then to present the results of the competitive dialogue for approval to the board, supervisory board, and management committee of ČD, after which they would announce the results and sign a contract with the winner.
The ČD headquarters is located in the building of the Ministry of Transport on the Ludvík Svoboda waterfront, which was constructed in the 1930s. According to earlier statements by ČD General Director Michal Krapinec, the historic building is inadequate. Due to the limited capacity of rental spaces, ČD employees are also situated in other buildings in Prague. A single headquarters would save the group tens of millions of crowns annually.
The total gross floor area of the building is expected to be about 18,100 square meters, with more than two-thirds of the area designated for offices. The complex is also expected to include an appropriate number of parking spaces.
