Chrudim - Chrudim is considering easing the regulations of the urban conservation zone's regulatory plan. This would partially free the hands of homeowners and landowners when it comes to construction and renovations in the broader area of the city center. The easing of regulations would affect several dozen places and buildings, said Chrudim's mayor Jan Čechlovský to journalists.

The city leadership has identified about 30 locations within the urban conservation zone that should be checked, and the applicable restrictions could change. "Some areas that are currently included in the regulatory plan may be removed, however, there is no real reason for them to be regulated since they are not located in the center of the zone. This mainly concerns the area at Borzně and near the Bohemia Hotel," Čechlovský stated.
Outside the strict oversight of preservationists and authorities, a number of other buildings or sites could also be affected. "For the buildings, it is necessary to check the possibility of potentially increasing the number of floors. For example, some low buildings on Radoušova Street could have two floors like the neighboring buildings, as well as the height arrangement in Lázeňská Street could be unified," the mayor noted. If today a homeowner wanted to renovate or demolish and rebuild a property in one of these locations, they would still have to construct a building of similar dimensions to the current state.
The city also wants to have the possibility of utilizing the site of the unused summer cinema reexamined. The current regulatory plan for this site allows for the construction of a hotel and underground garages. In the future, the road through the main Resselovo Square could also lead differently than it does today. It should come closer to one side, as proposed in his study by architect Roman Koucký, whereas it currently cuts through the square approximately in the middle and goes around the church. "The study must first be approved by the council," Čechlovský said.
Changing the regulatory plan of the urban conservation zone must undergo the same procedures as changes to the municipal zoning plan. First, so-called exploratory analyses are prepared, which examine the technical possibilities of construction, then authorities and other affected institutions give their opinions on the proposals. The preparation of changes will take about a year.
