Prague – The Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) has announced a tender for a construction company that will build a section of metro line D from Olbrachtova Street to Nové Dvory. The winning company will construct tunnels, three stations, and also technology spaces. The estimated value of the contract is 24.63 billion crowns. Construction will begin in the second half of next year and will last six years. The company expects bids from interested parties at the beginning of this September. This was reported today by DPP spokesperson Aneta Řehková.
DPP commenced construction of the section from Pankrác to Olbrachtova Street in the second half of April this year. The section Nové Dvory Depo Písnice will be built last. The total costs are expected to be approximately 52.09 billion crowns, taking inflation into account.
"We are following up on the public contract for monitoring and inventorying the construction of the second section of metro line D, which we announced in the first half of this May. We expect the first bids from interested parties for the construction tender at the beginning of this September and we firmly believe that by the end of this year we will know the winner, provided that no unforeseen complications arise," said DPP General Director Petr Witowski.
The currently tendered 3.3-kilometer long section includes three stations: Nádraží Krč, Nemocnice Krč, and Nové Dvory. The selected company will build three interstation sections with two single-track tunnels. The winner will also construct a tunnel and turnaround tracks at the Nové Dvory station, technology tunnels, such as for air conditioning, a branch for potential metro construction to Modřany, and other facilities necessary for metro operations. In addition, the company will be tasked with building and installing complete power supply systems, such as substations or converters.
The only surface station will be Nádraží Krč, where passengers will be able to transfer to the train. There will be a Park and Ride (P+R) parking lot near the station. The station will be partly under the southern bypass and partly on a bridge structure above the Kunratický potok valley.
The preparation of the metro D construction has faced a number of issues. The city had to negotiate with landowners along the planned route. The Pankrácká company association filed several complaints against the construction, among other things accusing the magistrate of systemic bias, which was subsequently rejected by the Ministry of Transport. The same complainants also raised a complaint against the issuance of the building permit. The antimonopoly office also dealt with a complaint regarding the tender in which DPP was selecting a contractor for the construction. This complaint was also dismissed.
