On Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at 4:00 PM, the book The Bauhaus Phenomenon – The Story of One School published by Grada will be launched at the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery and Point, Betlémské nám. 5a, Prague 1, with the participation of authors Jiří Kuděla, Markéta Svobodová, Miroslav Zelinský, and David Vávra. Three renowned Czech authors deal with the phenomenon of this German modern art and industrial school in the book, whose initial impulse was the hundredth anniversary of the founding of the Bauhaus, each in their own way and from different perspectives. In a more popular format, they aim to bring the story closer to the public, students, and educators, not only through the main protagonists of the Bauhaus but also through the environment of Czech interwar avant-garde, which maintained intense contact with this school. You are invited to an engaging reading accompanied not only by period visual materials, photographs, and reproductions but also illustrations by architect David Vávra and a comic mapping events surrounding the Bauhaus.
