Kutná Hora – Kutná Hora will once again offer for sale the former school in the local part of Malín, but under different conditions than before. The town hall will no longer insist on its use for social purposes. The new owner will also acquire adjacent lands. This was decided today by the councilors. Mayor Josef Viktora (ANO) stated that two serious buyers have emerged.
The city has long struggled to sell the building, which has been unused since 2012. Ultimately, no interested parties applied for the tenders. Recently, the town hall announced that it would prepare new sale conditions. "It has been a long saga. There have already been at least six official attempts to sell it," Viktora recalled. According to earlier reports, the building could be converted into apartments, for example.
The Malín school was closed in the autumn of 2012 because only 17 children enrolled, with no first graders at all. The council therefore decided to close the small school, which triggered a wave of discontent in the local part with about 1,500 inhabitants. According to some locals, the town hall let the school deteriorate so it wouldn't have to continue operating it. There were also occasional talks in Malín about a possible separation from Kutná Hora. The then city leadership argued that many parents from Malín send their children to larger schools that have better facilities.
