In mid-June of this year, a footbridge appeared in the Pod Vinicí park under the Pardubice hospital, created as part of the Střelnice festival organized by Divadlo 29 in collaboration with the Offcity association and several other partners. The installation of the footbridge was primarily intended for festival visitors, shortening their route across the river.
The footbridge was designed by the architectural and graphic office Mixage for the Offcity association, which financed the materials and realized the footbridge through self-help. The footbridge received additional permission from the Elbe River basin authority and will be dismantled at the end of October 2015.
The design was adapted to the material, financial, and technical capabilities of the association. The footbridge utilizes the pillars and structures of the original weir on which it is merely "placed," with a span of 5m between the pillars. The structure is a wooden truss made of boards 145/24 mm, with connections using screws. The railing is more optical, using ropes, to discourage excessive use. Its width allows only one person to cross at a time, but it is designed for greater load capacity. The load capacity was verified through a practical test – we climbed on it.
After four months of operation, the footbridge is in perfect condition and remains functional. Therefore, you have the last opportunity to use the footbridge during your autumn walk.
