Liberec received 249 objections and comments regarding the proposal for a new zoning plan

Liberec – Liberec received 249 objections and comments regarding the modified proposal for the new zoning plan. However, less than half of them were related to the changed parts of the plan. This was reported by the city hall spokesperson Jana Kodymová.

The city hall has been working on creating a new zoning plan, which is supposed to shape the development of the fifth largest city in the country for the next 20 to 30 years, since 2007. The latest version of the proposal was presented during an online public discussion at the end of May. Comments could be submitted until this Monday, and 249 were received. "However, upon initial assessment, more than half were regarding unchanged parts. Therefore, they were not subject to repeated public discussion and will likely be evaluated as unfounded," Kodymová stated. According to her, the most active individual submitted 135 objections and comments.

The process of adopting a new zoning plan in Liberec is nearing its end. Mayor Jaroslav Zámečník (Mayors for Liberec Region) previously stated that it should be brought to the city council for approval by the end of this year. Throughout the entire period of drafting the new zoning plan, the city hall received over 3,500 objections and comments. The opposition also criticized the proposal. Its representatives believe that in many cases it goes against what the residents demand. They cite the creation of an industrial zone next to the airport in Ostašov or the conversion of so-called mixed areas into industrial zones, which will affect the city districts of Vesec and Doubí. The current city hall leadership rejects the criticism, arguing that it is a proposal created by the previous administration. The current leadership does not want to implement significant changes in it in order to adopt the new zoning plan as quickly as possible. Problematic areas will be addressed later through individual amendments to the zoning plan.
