Prague - Residents of the housing estate in Ládví in Prague 8 can now enjoy a reconstructed area around the local fountain for relaxation. The town hall has replaced the pavement, expanded barrier-free access, and added eight benches designed by architect and fountain creator Viktor Tuček. Martin Šalek, spokesman for the city district, announced this today. The adjustment around the fountain is the second phase of the renovation of the square area in Ládví. The fountain was repaired and put into operation this year.

"Our vision is to make the relaxation zone a place where it will be a joy to spend free time. Next to the fountain itself, which looks truly wonderful after the recent reconstruction, we will now cooperate with the capital on adjustments to the surroundings," said Deputy Mayor Tomáš Hřebík (TOP 09 and STAN).

During the renovation, the town hall completely replaced the surface, which is made of light granite slabs that replaced the originally broken slabs. The new surface has a so-called sandblasted non-slip texture. Workers replaced the curbs and added designer benches and a drinking fountain. "The benches made of Siberian larch, designed by Mr. Architect Tuček, transformed the entire environment of the relaxation zone. Here, a historical element of the fountain is combined with modern furniture," stated Hřebík.

In the first half of next year, the town hall plans the final part of the revitalization. The town hall will adjust the surrounding greenery and place new bins and other small accessories. "We will create irrigated flowerbeds with various types of plants that have been selected with regard to the specific character of the place, increased foot traffic, and ensuring easy maintenance," said Radovan Borlovan from the management company Acton, which will take care of the area in Ládví.

This October, the city district ceremoniously reopened the repaired fountain from the 1980s, which had been out of operation for 30 years. The fountain has been cleaned, with the granite stones that make it up, and modern technology inside allows for, among other things, remote control.
