Lysá nad Labem (Nymbursko) - Lysá nad Labem in Nymburk is preparing a new look for Husovo Square for tens of millions of crowns. The city today announced an architectural competition, and work is expected to begin in 2018, stated Markéta Pražanová, co-organizer of the competition, to ČTK.

Authors can submit their proposals until the end of October, after which the jury will select the best ones. This will be followed by the development of a study and project. The city estimates the costs at 30 to 40 million crowns. The goal of the new appearance of the square should include calming traffic, improving transit and parking, as well as recreational elements and greenery. The entire space is expected to be multifunctional and barrier-free.

In the eastern part, there is also space suitable for building. The city architect of Lysá nad Labem, Jan Ritter, stated that the competition proposal can, in a way, also address appropriate infill development in the context of oversized public spaces.

An expert jury composed of architects, councilors, transportation, and other specialists will evaluate several proposals and select those that will be recommended for implementation. The prize for the winner of the competition is set at 120,000 crowns, while the second and third awarded proposals will receive 70,000 and 50,000 crowns, respectively.
