Prague - The Office for the Representation of the State in Property Matters (ÚZSVM) will offer the National House in Vinohrady for sale on Prague's Peace Square in April. The starting price in the electronic auction has been set at 760 million crowns, it was announced today in a press release. If the auction is successful, it could be one of the most profitable sales of the property office. The highest amount of 790 million crowns was previously obtained by the state from the sale of a complex on Republic Square in Prague.

The auction will take place from April 15 to 16, and interested parties must deposit a security of 20 million crowns no later than the day before. Bids in the auction will be possible in increments of at least 50,000 crowns. The ÚZSVM also offers interested parties viewings of the property prior to the auction, which will take place on April 1 and 8.

The National House in Vinohrady was built between 1893 and 1894 according to a design by architect Antonín Turk. The Neo-Renaissance building has four above-ground and two underground floors. It contains three large representative halls and four social lounges. Currently, the house primarily serves for hosting balls and other social events. Until mid-2032, the house is leased by the company National House-Cultural House of Railway Workers.

ÚZSVM took over the National House in Vinohrady at the end of 2024 from the State Fund for Culture. Since no state institution showed interest in the property, the property office offered it for sale in an auction.

Recent property auctions with high starting prices organized by ÚZSVM have repeatedly ended unsuccessfully. At the end of February, for the fifth time, it was not possible to sell the Central Bohemian castle Štiřín, with a starting price of 1.156 billion crowns, and in January, the eighth attempt to sell the Prague Broadway Palace for 878 million crowns also ended unsuccessfully. Currently, ÚZSVM is offering 46 properties in electronic auctions. The highest starting prices after the National House in Vinohrady have been set for the Prague house U Hybernů, which ÚZSVM offers for 447 million crowns, and the Prague castle Veleslavín, which will be auctioned starting at 357 million crowns.
