Prague - The Office for Representation of the State in Property Matters (ÚZSVM) today offers the Veleslavín chateau in Prague for sale for the fifth time. The electronic auction starts at 10:00, and to be successful, a bid must be made within 24 hours at least at the starting price of 303.45 million crowns. In previous rounds of the auction, no one expressed interest in the property, and neither the capital city nor the municipal district of Prague 6 accepted the offer to purchase the chateau at the starting price.
The city hall and the municipal district will also have the opportunity to match the highest bid in the current round of the auction. In the past, however, the price that the ÚZSVM demands for the chateau has been deemed too high.
The property office had previously proposed including the Veleslavín chateau in a property exchange between Prague and the state, which ultimately fell through. Prague's request for a free transfer was rejected by the property office. No one registered for subsequent auctions, even though the starting price was gradually reduced from the original 580 million crowns.
The ÚZSVM is currently offering about sixty buildings in auctions. The most valuable among them is the Středočeský chateau Štiřín, which the property office is offering for 884.34 million crowns. However, real estate auctions with high starting prices have recently faced failures; besides the Veleslavín chateau, the Štiřín chateau and the Prague Broadway Palace are also struggling to sell. On the other hand, the sale of the Prague house U Hybernů for 447 million crowns in March was a success, making it the second most profitable sale in the office's history.
