Zlín – The city of Zlín and its architecture are being presented to tourists and residents of the regional city through new regular walks called Zóna Zlín. The most significant Baťa buildings will demonstrate why the city was referred to as the "exhibition hall of the First Republic." In addition, attention is given to modernist urbanism and functional zones that are still recognizable in Zlín, the city hall representative informed CTK in a press release today. During the walks, participants will also learn about the most important personalities that shaped the city.

"During the two-hour tour, interested parties will visit the industrial area in addition to the historic center and will become acquainted with the high-rise buildings on Náměstí Práce. The Baťa accommodation method and typical workers' houses are also presented. The walk ends with a visit to the Tomáš Baťa Memorial, one of the most radical buildings of the last century," said the route author Lucie Šmardová.

The walks are organized by the city of Zlín in collaboration with the aArchitektura association and the Zlín Architectural Manual. They take place from June to September every Wednesday and Saturday. The route is intended for visitors to the city, but also for locals who want to learn new information.

"This year is a pilot project, so we will appreciate any feedback from visitors, which will serve to improve this service. In the coming years, we would like to expand it with additional thematic circuits, for example on Baťa housing," said Eva Manišová, head of the city’s tourism department.

Interested parties can register for the tours online, by phone at 577 630 270, or in person at the information center in the town hall building. "By arrangement, tours can also be held outside the designated dates," said Pavla Julinová, head of the Information Center.
