Prague – The Ministry of Justice has signed a contract with a consortium of companies for the construction of a Judicial Complex in Ústí nad Labem for 2.25 billion crowns. The complex will not only house courts and prosecutors but also, for example, the regional probation and mediation service. In a press release today, the ministry's spokesperson Vladimír Řepka informed about the signing of the contract. According to him, the construction should take approximately two and a half years. The ministry signed the contract on Monday based on a tender with the consortium of companies VW Wachal, Gardenline, and Yucon CZ, with VW Wachal being the leading partner, Řepka stated.

According to the ministry, the new complex in the Bukov area will accommodate both the Ústí regional and district courts, as well as the regional and district public prosecutors' offices. Furthermore, the Ústí probation and mediation service, the regional office of the Office for State Representation in Property Affairs, and the judicial guard will also move there.

The facility is expected to employ 828 people, making it the second-largest judicial complex in the country after the complex Na Míčánkách in Prague, which employs around a thousand people. The complex in Ústí will also have 316 parking spaces, with office space exceeding 8,600 square meters, the ministry stated.

The Ústí courts will have access to 46 courtrooms of various sizes in the complex. The lack of a large courtroom has been one of the issues with the current building, which has been in operation since 1974. Moreover, the building is located in a flood zone and has been flooded several times during floods.

The Ministry of Justice announced a tender for the construction of the complex in the past, but had to cancel it in February this year. According to them, the bid prices exceeded its budgetary possibilities after the antitrust office excluded the selected contractor.
