Prague - A model of the Olympic Park, the heart of the Summer Olympic Games in London, which will take place from July 27 to August 12, is on display from today until Sunday at the National Technical Museum in Prague, and next week in Brno.

"As the games approach, interest in what the Olympic Park will look like grows, and fans have this unique opportunity to see it," said Sian MacLeod, the British ambassador to the Czech Republic, at the ceremonial opening of the exhibition. "I believe that the model will inspire visits to London during the games and after," she added.
The model of the Olympic Park, which is actually located in East London in former industrial areas and where, among other things, there is a village for athletes, the main stadium, a velodrome, and a swimming center reminiscent of a wave, is made of wood and plastic. The model is not large; the scaled-down park measures 85x78.5 centimeters.
The design of the Olympic Park was also admired by Věra Čáslavská. She inquired with interest about what will be where and nodded her head in approval. "It harmonizes with nature. It looks like it will be beautiful," said the seven-time Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics.
The traveling exhibition of the model, which is accompanied by documentary films about the construction of the complex and the development of the park, was launched in early February 2012 in Serbia and subsequently moved to Poland. The Czech Republic is the third stop of ten.
