Moravská Třebová will vote on the construction of a supermarket

Moravská Třebová (Svitavsko) - Moravská Třebová in Svitavsko will again decide whether to allow the construction of a Tesco supermarket in the southwestern part of the city. The previous composition of the council rejected this in 2009. The town hall would have to change the zoning plan. At the same time, a project is being developed to build a commercial zone in the area of the textile company Hedva. This was said today by Mayor Miloš Izák (ČSSD).
     The developer chose a location designated for residential construction on Svitavská street and the main route to Moravia. The town hall would have to revise the zoning plan to allow for the construction of shops there. The mayor likes the proposal and will support it. Currently, there are only smaller stores of retail chains Lidl, Penny Market, and Billa in the city.
     "We will see how the voting turns out. It’s a slightly different composition of the council, we have six new people. This location seems best to me because it is on the edge of the city and people from surrounding villages can also come there," said Izák.
     Opposing the proposal to build Tesco is the project for the redevelopment of the Hedva textile complex near the railway station in the northern part of the city, where several buildings are in a state of disrepair and the business has long ceased to use it. New stores could emerge instead of the old buildings. Only retail chains will want to invest money in this, said Oldřich Vlk, who is in charge of the project, to ČTK.
     "The buildings can no longer be utilized in the industry. It is a ruin that no one else will repair," said Vlk.
     According to Vlk, the project has many advantages and it does not have to remain just with one hypermarket, more stores could gradually emerge there. The planned site is in line with the zoning plan and will utilize plots with non-functional industry. The shopping center will be accessible from the city center. The location is in close proximity to the social-sports center. The commercial complex has a future perspective, especially once the R35 expressway is established, Vlk added.
