Four bids were submitted for the renovation of the Imperial Baths in K. Vary

Karlovy Vary - The Karlovy Vary Region received four bids for the revitalization of the Imperial Spa. The regional office now has to assess whether the bids meet the required conditions, said the governor of the Karlovy Vary Region, Jana Mračková Vildumetzová (ANO), at today's council meeting. The region wants to start the renovation of the national cultural monument this year.

The contract for the overall renovation of the Imperial Spa is estimated at 484 million crowns. A large part, about 70 percent, of the work will include restoration work, the governor stated. This is where the bid price may still increase.

The Karlovy Vary Region has prepared 200 million crowns in its budget outlook for the construction, and co-financing from the city of Karlovy Vary will reach 100 million crowns. A grant of 250 million crowns will be provided by the Ministry of Culture. The region has already received confirmation of registration from them, which is confirmation of the grant provision.

The plan also includes the restoration of interiors, including wooden parts of the building, such as paneling, door and window fillings. The façade will have its plaster, stone columns and pilasters, cladding, and decorative elements repaired. The roofing will also be replaced.

The pseudorenaissance spa building was constructed between 1893 and 1895 according to the design of Vienna architects Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer. The building was used for balneological purposes until the end of the 1980s.
