Karlovy Vary

Karlovy Vary - Apparently by the end of June, the Karlovy Vary region should know if it will receive a grant from the Ministry of Culture for the renovation of the Imperial Baths in Karlovy Vary. The grant from the Ministry of Culture, which could be up to 250 million crowns, should also be tied to a grant from the Regional Operational Program. The grants are intended to cover a significant portion of the costs for the construction, which amounts to almost one billion crowns, said today to ČTK the regional councilor for culture Eva Valjentová (KSČM).

The renovation of the Imperial Baths was also supported by the Minister of Culture Alena Hanáková during her recent visit. "I will do my best and I sincerely hope that the Imperial Baths will receive funding from the state, which could help bring them to life, as they are beautiful," stated Hanáková.
However, she did not specify how much money the region could obtain for the renovation of the dilapidated building and whether it can count on it.
According to Valjentová, the grant from the Ministry of Culture is crucial because it will lead to a call from the Regional Operational Program. From this program, the region is expected to receive 150 million crowns. The city of Karlovy Vary has promised another 100 million crowns. The rest will be covered by the region from its own sources. "It should amount to up to 400 million crowns," Valjentová stated.
The Imperial Baths were built in 1895 according to the design of renowned architects Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer. Its owner is the Karlovy Vary region. This year, precisely because of the planned renovation of the building, the region has postponed the project for a three-dimensional map of the Karlovy Vary region outdoors to avoid exhausting funds from the Regional Operational Program.
So far, all work on the Imperial Baths has been mainly emergency repairs. At the turn of last year and this year, for example, the roof repair of the Imperial Baths was completed, costing almost three million crowns.
