Prague - The image of cadastral maps from across the country is now also available on the internet. The Czech Office for Surveying, Mapping and Cadastre (ČÚZK) has launched a trial operation of a new internet browser application for the property cadastre. During last year, over eight million people accessed the cadastre online, which is about two million more than in 2006. Jaroslav Gall from ČÚZK informed about this in a press release today. Among other new features of electronic access to the cadastre is the display of restrictions on property rights and the ability to obtain text information from the database via mobile devices. "In locations where the cadastral map is not yet available in digital form, raster images of cadastral maps are available, supplemented with a bi-weekly update of the indicative display of changes from geometric plans," Gall stated. The trial operation of the new application is currently limited to a restricted number of accesses. The system is expected to be fully operational by next week, Gall told ČTK. The number of online accesses to the cadastre has been increasing year by year since the application was launched in 2004. While there were 2.9 million accesses in the year it began, two years later it rose to 4.6 million, and last year it exceeded eight million people. The proposed amendment to the cadastral law, which was approved by the government at the end of February, suggests that data provision from the property cadastre should in the future be more closely monitored by the Office for Personal Data Protection. However, public access to this database will remain, and people will also have the option to obtain data from the digitized part of the nationwide property cadastre at any cadastral office. At the end of last month, the government also approved a proposal to amend the law on the registration of ownership and other real rights to real estate, which may result in increased fees for registration in the cadastre. The administrative fee for registration will still be 500 crowns, but it will no longer be paid for the proposal as a whole, rather for each property and right separately. The revenues from these fees are intended to be used for further digitization of cadastral maps.
